Flat Rock Scorpion

The Flat Rock Scorpion, supposedly the longest scorpion in the world, is a wonderful species for a beginner, intermediate keeper, or an advanced collector. It's a large, long-lived scorpion unlike any other. It's body is shaped to fit into the cracks and crevices almost any rock. Flat Rock Scorpions will almost never sting somebody, but will not hesitate to pinch. Certain people claim to handle their Flat Rock Scorpions, but you shouldn't go by those guidelines. There are many different color variations of the Flat Rock Scorpions. This may have something to do with the different locations the scorpions are caught in. Due to their high appeal, Flat Rock Scorpions are scorpions that dealers, pet shops, etc. try to obtain and breed. Flat Rock Scorpions are a common sight in captive collections, and those are some of the reasons why!

Chilean Rose Tarantula

The Chilean Rose Tarantula is one of the most commonly imported tarantulas in the trade today. This species of tarantula is a combination of being fairly large, hardy and docile. The Chilean Rose Tarantula can be found in almost any pet store, and can be found in two different color phases. One of the color phases of the Chilean Rose Tarantula is a tan to brown overall color with pink hairs and a pink carapace, while the other is a tarantula with red hairs all over it's body. The photo to the left shows the brown and pink phase. These used to be classified under two different species, but they are now both known as Chilean Rose Tarantulas. There are many pet stores that carry Chilean Rose Tarantulas, although they may be under different names. Some of these names are listed below. The Chilean Rose Tarantula is the ultimate starter species, and should be considered for anybody who wants to dive into the hobby.

Chinese Swimming Scorpion

Yes, for the most part - cannibalism can happen as juvies. they can co-habitate with mesobuthus martensii. Gorgeous species. known to breed like rabbits even with scorplings still riding piggyback. they like to hide and allegedly like to soak in water (I have not witnessed them taking interest in soaking or swimming so I cannot attest to this)
Instead of looking for food or stalking it's food it hangs in wait and when the prey passes below it snags it up in it's pedipalps and in some cases I've witnessed it holding the prey alive until it's ready to eat it and then it stings it. I would say that these guys are fast as lightening.

Emperor Scorpion

In the wild, emperor scorpions are reported to feed primarily on termites. In captivity they readily feed on cricketscockroaches, and mealworms. Emperor scorpions are also known to eat small mice and lizards. Emperors are burrowing scorpions, digging with the first two pairs of legs. A burrow may be little more than a hollow under a rock or may twist and turn more than six feet into the earth. In the wild, emperors are said to burrow into termite mounds and make their homes there.
Emperor scorpions are preyed on by reptiles, mammals and amphibians. The emperor scorpion, like most scorpions, is timid and reclusive. If given a choice they will spend the vast majority of their time hiding in a hole, only venturing out to hunt.

Asian Forest Scorpion

The Malaysian Forest Scorpions or Asian Forest Scorpion is hardy, quiet, and easy to care for. It is also impressive to look at. But unlike the Emperor Scorpion it is not handleable. It is quite defensive and will readily sting when it feels cornered or in danger.
At a glance these large, shiny black scorpions are often mistaken for the commonly kept Emperor Scorpion. However, the Asian Forest Scorpion is similar to the Emperor Scorpion only in looks and not in behavior. They are very aggressive and unlike the Emperor Scorpion, this species is not as likely to settle down in captivity. It can be distinguished from the Emperor in that it is slightly more elongated and its pedipalps and claws are larger and more elongated.

Singapore Blue Tarantula (SBT)

The Singapore Blue (Lampropelma violaceopes), is a large, arboreal species, of tarantula from countries Malaysia and Singapore. These spiders have been known to grow in excess of 9 inches across. The body is a very colorful blue with brown or even gold carapace. The male equivalent is usually never as vibrant.Singapore Blues are common as pets because of their beautiful colors. Caution should be taken as these are very aggressive animals. They will defend themselves using their venom transferred via fangs.
Recommended feeding, includes four to six live crickets, every few weeks. Gut loading, or providing prey with vitamins and other nutrients, provides tarantulas with a healthy meal. Uneaten prey should be removed after one day. Fasting, or not eating, for days or weeks at a time is sometimes an indication of an upcoming moult. A water dish should be supplied and maintained, shallow enough for the tarantula to drink from.

Orange Baboon Tarantula (OBT)

Usambara Orange Baboon Tarantulas are one of several species of Pterinochilus (the common name doesn't mean anything, but I've included it here since many people who view my site are not keen on proper Latin names). Scientists still have a lot to learn about the taxonomy and different species of the genus Pterinochilus. These spiders lack the urticating hairs of the New World tarantulas, but can be quite defensive. These obligate burrowers may remain secluded in their burrows for long periods of time.

Mexican Red Rump Tarantula (MRR)

This spider was first described by Ausserer in 1875 and is a native of Mexico, and is frequently found in Belize, El Salvador and Guatemala, where is can be found in deep burrows.
This is a very handsome spider of the New World Brachypelma family of tarantulas, with very distinctive jet black legs and abdomen. The abdomen is liberally sprinkled with fine red hairs (leading to one of its common names of Red-Rump). The carapace is edged with cream and has thin radiating lines of cream colouring.
These spiders are obligate burrows and will dig deep burrows when kept in the right conditions.
These spiders should not be handled, as they are considered aggressive or at least very skittish. They can move very, very quickly!

Green Bottle Blue Tarantula (GBB)

The Greenbottle Blue Tarantula (Chromatopelma cyaneopubescens), a native of Venezuela, has some of the most dramatic coloring of any spider species. Adult greenbottles have metallic blue legs, a blue-green carapace and a vibrant orange abdomen.
They are very active, fast-growing and particularly attractive to tarantula hobbyists.
These tarantulas live in webbed burrows under bushes and tree roots in desert areas of northern Venezuela, near Paraguana. The entrance is often extended with webbing, sometimes resembling a tunnel. These webs may protect the entrance from the harsh desert climate, also acting as a trap for insects. Green bottle blue's can be very vibrantly blue colored.

Hedgehog

hedgehog is any of the spiny mammals of the subfamily Erinaceinae and the order Erinaceomorpha. There are 17 species of hedgehog in five genera, found through parts of EuropeAsiaAfrica, and New Zealand. There are no hedgehogs native to Australia, and no living species native to North America; those in New Zealand are introduced. Hedgehogs have changed little over the last 15 million years. Like many of the first mammals they have adapted to a nocturnal, insectivorous way of life.

Sugar Glider

Sugar gliders can be found all throughout Northern and Eastern Australia, along with the surrounding islands of Tasmania, Papua New Guinea, and Indonesia. They can be found in any forest where there is food supply but are commonly found in forests with eucalyptus trees. They are nocturnal, sleeping in their nests during the day and active at night. At night is when they hunt for insectsand small vertebrates and feed on the sweet sap of certain species of eucalyptusacacia and gum trees. The Sugar Glider is named for its preference for sweet foods and its ability to glide through the air, much like a flying squirrel

Tokay gecko

The Tokay Gecko is the second largest Gecko species, attaining lengths of about 30–40 cm (11–15 inches) for males, and 20–30 cm (7–11 inches) for females, with weights of 150–300g (5–10 oz). They are distinctive in appearance, with a bluish or greyish body, sporting spots ranging from light yellow to bright red. The male is more brightly coloured than the female. They have large eyes with a vertical slit pupil. Eyes are brown to greenish brown and can be orange or yellow.
Males are very territorial, and will attack other male Tokays as well as other Gecko species, as well as anything else in their territory. They are solitary and only meet during the mating season. Females lay clutches of one or two hard shelled eggs which are guarded until they hatch. Tokay Geckos feed on insect and small vertebrates.
The typical lifespan is 7–10 years, however in captivity some Tokays have been known to live over 18 years.
